Never Ending Winter

11 04 2013

Our never ending winter is getting to me. Actually it’s getting to everyone. It sucks. It is April and feels like February. Mother Nature teases us with one or two nice days and then it’s disgusting and freezing again. I actually woke up the other morning due to the wind and rain and thought my house was going to blow away. It makes me not want to do anything. And it’s not like I wasn’t already having motivational issues. I like my couch, a lot. It’s comfy and warm when I have my down blanket. I’m sick of running in seven layers when I can actually run outside.

I finally broke down and joined a gym again. And then promptly remembered I hate the treadmill. I did run a measly three miles on it. I guess it’s better than nothing. Still not highly motivated to run though. And I do have a half marathon in a month. That will be interesting.

Things I am enjoying:

  • Seeing friends I haven’t seen in a long time
  • New beers
  • Planning adventures with friends
  • Running with Sara again
  • Snuggling on my couch
  • Knowing it has to get warmer eventually and if it doesn’t I will be in DC next month where Spring actually exists.
  • Planning for year three of Ragnar
  • Nashville, the TV show, not the city. I’ve never been to the city
  • Milwaukee Beer Week starts this weekend

TP’s Adventures in Wisconsin: Beer and Running

2 10 2012

Thai Phi has visited me three times since I moved home. She has been to Wisconsin three times in her life. What a great friend. And then on this trip she told me Wisconsin was one of her happy places. I’m still shocked I didn’t cry when she said that.

We had a great weekend of sitting on my porch drinking beer, running at Lapham Peak State Park, visiting the Wisconsin Cheese Mart and drinking more beer. It was a fantastic weekend and I will someday figure out a portal between Milwaukee and DC. Someday.

Select photos  from out adventures. Also, I need to run the trails more.

This was a great distraction from the fact that I have’t run more than three miles at a time in over two weeks.

Something New

20 06 2012

I’m in a bit of a running funk right now. I have barely run since Ragnar. I did run the Race for the Bacon 5K and win my age group. That was fun. And I got a super cool pin. And we ate a lot of bacon.

And I got to run another race with Sara.

My something new is MY HOUSE. I closed on my house on Monday. Somehow I am now a homeowner. Not exactly sure how that happened, but I am so excited and I LOVE my house.

So for now I am going to concentrate on getting settled in my house. I will be running the Rock’n'Sole Half Marathon on Saturday. Sara gave me a race plan that I promptly agreed to:  RT @mkemom: @rshill37 Plan: Run. Have fun. Don’t die. Have beer.

How can you argue with that? In addition, Mo will be here this weekend and we get to play, which will of course involve more beer. Probably on my front porch.
