Summer isn’t over

While there are a million blogs and tweets about summer almost being over and lamenting how quickly it went I remind myself summer isn’t over. Sure we have fall weather, but I LOVE it. I HATE 90 degree weather. That’s why summers in DC almost killed me and why I like the climate here in Wisconsin. September and October are the best months of the year. September can easily be another month of summer.

And I have so much going on in the next few weeks I couldn’t be sad about summer ending even if I wanted to be. I leave on an amazing work trip tomorrow. I get to return to Peru, a country I fell in love with in 2005. It is really a work trip and we will be quite busy for the first two thirds and then we will be going to Machu Picchu.

It will be a totally different experience this time. I won’t have to hike for three days and be exhausted. Instead we are taking the train in. I’m also hoping it will be a clearer day. I hope to do a few posts while I’m on the trip like I did in February, but I have no idea what the internet situation will be when we are up in norther Peru.

Two days after I get back my best friend in the whole world arrives in Wisconsin for Labor Day weekend. I can’t go into details yet, but I’m super excited for her.

Then, three days later the Badgers kick off their season. And if you didn’t know I was excited for that then you probably have never ever read my blog before and certainly don’t follow me on twitter. I got season tickets this year which is awesome. ย Thanks to a handy thing on UWbadgers.comย I was able to find the view from my new seats. It’s not exact, but it’s close. I’m quite happy with the tickets I ended up with. I’m also psyched to see the new team. New coach, new QB (maybe), new #1 Running back.

Tomorrow marks the date Rosie has been with me for one month. I love her so much. She is such a fantastic dog. We have been doing more running and she is genuinely happy when we run. She’s fast, like wants to run faster than I do, but we do well together.

It's tough being a dog.

  1. Lucky you! I was just in communications with a fellow from Peru today. With any luck, I’ll be taking a trip to Peru for work too. Also, I agree with you on Summer not being over. To those with kids that are returning to school it might be over, but not us. Long live Summer!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. It’s not over, but it’s so easy to feeeeel like it’s coming to an end with how cool it’s been out for August!
But LUCKY you to be able to travel to cool places! It’s always neat to follow along from the interwebs on your adventures.
Is it nerdy that my favorite part about Badger game season is running through a sea of red during my long run?

  3. Looks like a fun adventure for you! ๐Ÿ™‚ That awesome! ๐Ÿ™‚
I can’t wait for cooler weather too, but summer fun isn’t over yet for me! ๐Ÿ™‚
Making the most of it! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. While I love the heat of the south, I do wish it wasn’t quite SO hot for SO long. I definitely don’t want your winters, but I’d like a slightly cooler summer. But I am ready for a fall atmosphere and some awesome football!
